Wow – what a year 2020 turned out to be! For the Rays of Hope family and all of our Alex partners, it’s been a tough road but definitely worth all the effort as we reflect on the impact that we have made.
Alexandra Township was hard-hit by COVID-19, but the #Hope4Alex campaign (a Rays of Hope initiative) as well as the efforts of many kind and generous souls, has helped immensely.
Rays of Hope partnered with over 30 non-profit organisations across Alex, impacting over 73,000 of the most vulnerable people (and was even featured in the NY Times). We were also able to bring hope to grief, trauma and GBV sufferers through counselling and educational materials to the young people, and it was all thanks to YOU.
We are very excited that most of our regular programmes are starting up again after lockdown, bringing us closer to our own new normal. We are also looking forward to a well-deserved celebration with young people who are part of our programmes at the end of the year.
With your help, we can do even more in 2021. For a monthly amount of R1,250, you can provide food, education, counselling and psychosocial as well as health-related support to a vulnerable person through Rays of Hope. For each person, the mix of services will look different, but it’s about moving the most vulnerable to the place of wholeness and independence.
All cash donations within South Africa are eligible for a Section 18A tax certificate and corporates can claim B-BBEE points for your donation. International donations can be made through our GlobalGiving platform: http://bit.ly/SupportAChild2020.
Thank you for your support during 2020 – we truly appreciate every effort and sentiment both big and small. I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a safe and happy festive season with loved ones, as we look forward to a better and brighter 2021.
