Sulphur dioxide: Regulations, Testing and Limitations

Sulphites are considered to be allergens in certain countries. This is due to adverse reactions that have been reported when sulphite or sulphur dioxide have been ingested, inhaled, and injected into the body. The reactions may be immediate or delayed, and the recorded symptoms include dermatologic (skin), respiratory, or gastrointestinal signs and symptoms. Read more here.

FACTS is hosting a 2-day workshop providing an indepth understanding of the various regulations relating to the labelling of foodstuffs.

The varied regulatory environment in South Africa, means we need a broad understanding of what regulations may be applicable, where to find them and how to apply them. This is done with the foundation of R.146 (Regulations relating to the labelling and advertising of foodstuffs), coupled with information on regulations from all the various authorities.
